UPDATE 5/27 9:00am:  The shooter in the deadly attack that happened at a Grand Forks Wal-Mart early Tuesday morning has been identified as 21 year old airman Marcell Willis.

Police are saying that Willis entered the store just before 1am and shot 2 employees, one fatally, before turning the gun on himself. Identities of the victims are not yet available pending full family notification, but are expected sometime Wednesday. Police are still investigating, but do not see an immediate link between the shooter and the victims.

2 people are dead, and 1 wounded after a shooting took place early Tuesday morning (5//26) at the south Grand Forks Wal-Mart just before 1am.

Grand Forks Police responded to reports of gunshots at the store. When they arrived, they found 2 people dead and transported one to a local hospital to treat their wounds. According to Grand Forks Police Lt. Derik Zimmel, the extent of those injuries is unknown. Names of anyone involved are not being released pending family notification.

According to a spokesperson for the Grand Forks Air Force Base, There was an airman involved in the shooting, but their role is currently unknown. The Office of Special Investigations for the Air Force is working with Grand Forks Police on this investigation.

At a press conference, Lt. Zimmel stated that there was not an active shooting taking place when police arrived. They do not believe there to be an ongoing public safety risk. It is also believed that the shooter is among the dead.

No arrests have been made in this case.
