Banging your head against the cage in the back of a police car will not prevent you from going to jail. It just means you'll take a pit-stop at the local hospital before ending up behind bars.

That is the case for a Mandan man, according to KFYR-TV.

According to police arrest records, 21-year-old Dylan Johannes Butler was booked Tuesday (Feb.13) for threatening a woman, and hitting her in the face. Butler threaten to kill the woman, after he forced his way into her car at a local gas station on Main Street.

The woman was able to break free and alert authorities. Butler was arrested. While in route to the jail house, Butler started to bang his head against the cage in the back of the police car. He sustained injuries, was taken to the hospital and treated for his self-inflicted head injuries.

Butler was booked on several charges including Simple Domestic Assault, Disorderly Conduct and other charges are pending.
