It appears rumors had spread that due to the Dakota Access Pipeline protests, Ace Hardware stores in the area were opting not to sell certain products.

It's not clear from the release what some people were saying though they do mention at the top that their stores in Bismarck are in-stock and currently selling 1 lb propane canisters.

Ace Hardware said:

In an effort to clear any misunderstanding and/or misinformation, Ace Hardware can now confirm that there is no ban on the sale of products at our locally-owned Ace stores; customers should feel free to check with their local store for inventory availability.

Certainly people in the area are concerned that certain products can be used by individuals to inflict harm to people or damage to property but this is always the case whether there are protests in the area or not.

Despite the potential dangers, our local Ace Hardware stores are not banning the sale of any products they normally sell.

Protesters have been ordered to leave the protest camp by December 5th for safety concerns. High temperatures in the area next week are expected to be in the teens or lower.
