There are fake solar eclipse glasses being sold to consumers hoping to see the solar eclipse on Monday, August 21st.

There are glasses that have what look like the same markings as those that are safe to view the upcoming total solar eclipse. The majority of these glasses are being sold online. Plenty of the sellers are scammers. Please be beware.

It's important to do plenty of research before purchasing said 'eclipse glasses.' The glasses required for the viewing of the solar eclipse on August 21 have to meet guidelines set by NASA. The glasses need to meet the standards of ISO 12312-2 which may sound confusing. Those standards are met by companies such as Baader Planetarium, Rainbow Symphony, American Paper Optics, Thousand Oaks Optical and TSE 17.

In the off-chance that you don't know who the manufacturer is, you can purchase at least some of the required eclipse glasses at Wal-Mart and Lowe's, locally.
