In case you haven't noticed, there's a new addition to the downtown nightlife in Bismarck that opened up just before the holidays. That new establishment is called Roundhouse.

After being away from Bismarck for the days surrounding Christmas, I came back to the area and found myself needing to plan out my New Year's Eve plans. A friend I planned to hang with that night texted me and said, "Come to Roundhouse, we have a table."

It had me thinking to myself, "Roundhouse? Where is that?" Thanks to my handy Google machine, I found the location was connected to the Elbow Room in downtown. And in case you're like me and weren't familiar with the new spot, I'll fill you in on what to expect should you decide to try it out.

The new gastropub-style restaurant is separate from The Elbow Room by a garage door that allows patrons to venture back-and-forth between establishments.

Jake Miller manages Roundhouse and told the Bismarck Tribune that its owned and operated by the owners of Elbow Room. Miller mentions that menu items include mozzarella stuffed deep-fried risotto, a Maryland-style crab cake sandwich open-faced thanksgiving sandwich served on a waffle made from stuffing, as well as his favorites, the bánh mì pork sandwich and the New Orleans-style muffaletta sandwich.

The bar at Roundhouse includes 16 craft beers on tap and high-end gins, rums, and LOTS of whiskeys.

On the weekends, Roundhouse will serve brunch while also serving breakfast during the weekdays. The place will also be a stop for late-night food as well. Hours of operation are from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., while the Elbow Room's hours are 8 a.m. to 1 a.m.

Roundhouse can seat 90 people and has an open kitchen. There's also a 'semi-private' room available for rent.

From my limited experience there as a customer, I can tell you the inside is aesthetically pleasing, the tables and seating give it a laid-back feel, and the tall beer glasses seemed excessive oversized, and I say that in the most awesome way I possibly can. I definitely look forward to stopping in quite a few more times to downtown Bismarck's newest establishment. Be sure to check it out when you're in the area.
