The Bismarck Police Department has been involved in another incident where an officer discharged his service weapon.

The officer involved shooting happen Sunday (3/6) on E. Thayer Avenue. The unidentified 42 year old man, was intoxicated and armed with a shotgun and wanted to kill the person who called 911, according to a statement released by the Bismarck PD.

Once officers arrived on he scene, the suspect fled out of the backdoor of the apartment complex. The officer asked him to show his hands and get on the ground. The officer believed the Mandan man was armed and dangerous, the officer fired his rifle.

Officers found a shotgun in the apartment building hallway. The investigation continues. The officer involved has not been identified.
