For the 5th time, Bismarck has been named a “Playful City USA” by the KaBoom! Playful City program.  Playful City USA is a national program that honors cities and towns that make play a priority and that get children active and healthy.  KaBoom! recognized 217 cities last year.

Bismarck was chosen this year due to our plentiful free playgrounds, hiking trails, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, and abundant opportunities for kids and families to get outside, be active, and enjoy!

Bismarck’s Parks and Rec employee Greg Smith says: “We try to have parks within a half mile of just about anyone’s home in the city of Bismarck.  They have to have a sidewalk or trail that leads to them.  The play areas have to be available free of charge, or they should be ideally.”   He hopes this achievement will attract new families to Bismarck.

So, what are you waiting for?  Get out and play in Bismarck!
