Following the announcement last week that Minnesota's Mall of America would be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Bismarck's Kirkwood Mall has announced they will follow suit.

In a press release sent out earlier this afternoon (10/12), CBL & Associates Properties, Inc., the company that owns the Kirkwood Mall, announced that the location would be closed on Thanksgiving Day and would reopen Friday, November 25th, at 6 a.m.

The reason for the closing is to 'bring back the excitement of Black Friday shopping,' according to the press release. It will also give employees, retailers, and shoppers the opportunity to spend the holiday with their families.

While the Kirkwood Mall's common areas will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, stores with exterior mall entrances can choose to remain open. Those stores at the Kirkwood Mall could include Target, Herbergers, and others.
