The United Tribes International Powwow, held each September in Bismarck, was named by USA Today and Paul Gowder of Powwows.com one of the ten best.

This is especially impressive when you consider that Gowder's site lists more than 1,500 powwows nationwide.

USA Today explains:

This 45-year-old September festival draws more than 1,500 dancers and representatives from 70 tribes, which makes it one of the biggest gatherings in the North Central states. 'It's one of the must-dos on the circuit. It wraps up a long summer of powwowing,' Gowder says. This year, it's Sept. 4-7.

The article covers all ten of these most spectacular celebrations. You can find more extensive info on the United Tribes International Powwow on their website or their Facebook page.
