Cashier Sells Herself Winning $1 Million Powerball Ticket
Some jobs pay better than others.
A Doniphan, Missouri woman who works as a convenience store clerk recently sold herself a winning $1 million ticket in last weekend’s $590 Powerball jackpot.
Maryjane Hart’s windfall came just one week after she collected $500 on another ticket she played. For her million dollar payday, Hart chose numbers of some of her favorite NASCAR drivers.
Hart, who matched all the numbers except for the Powerball, works at the Hartland Pit Stop as a cashier on weekends. Ironically, she owned the store for 25 years before she sold it a few years back.
We’re just little common people here in a very poor community so this has been a very big deal to everybody here. It’s the buzz of the town.”
After taxes, Hart will collect $710,000, some of which she will use to treat herself to a vacation in Hawaii. She also hopes to buy a better car for her disabled son.
Hart, who also works as a pharmacy technician, won’t let money change her – she has no designs on quitting either job.
