Christmas is the time for giving -- with some people giving more than others.

While many people throw a few coins or a few bucks into the red buckets of the Salvation Army -- or maybe even nothing at all -- there have been reports of big gifts being thrown in.

For example, Salvation Army bell ringers have found such things as diamonds, wedding and engagement rings, and silver dollars in their collections.

The bell ringers have even found Krugerrands, which are famous one-ounce gold coins from South Africa and are currently worth about $1,800.
