On the morning of September 28th, 2015, an officer with the Fargo Police Department shot a 31-year old Bismarck man who was armed with a BB gun. Dashcam footage from that incident was recently posted to YouTube.

The channel that posted the video, PoliceActivity, makes sure to point out that they're not publishing the video to glorify violence in any way. They're simply doing it for 'news reporting and educating.' The video has been viewed more than 50,000 times.

In the video, which you can see above, you hear Officer Patrick Thomas shouting at Karmen Redshirt, asking him multiple times to drop the gun in the parking lot of a Fargo Pizza Hut.

As Redshirt begins to approach the car, Thomas continues to ask him to drop the gun, before shooting the 31-year old. It wasn't until Redshirt had been subdued that officers discovered that the gun he was waving was a BB gun.

Redshirt eventually pled guilty to felony charges of theft, reckless endangerment, and terrorizing. He is currently being held at the North Dakota State Penitentiary.

After reviewing an investigation by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, it was decided that Officer Thomas would not face any charges in connection with the incident, according to the description included with the video.
