Glam Rocker David Bowie lost his fight with Cancer and died at the age of 69 according to his officials.

His music shaped a generation and his style influenced the same generation. His career spanned over 40 years of music, fashion, glam-rock and art. According to the press release-

“David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief,” read a statement posted on the artist’s official social media accounts.

 Born David Jones in London on Jan. 8, 1947, He changed his name to David Bowie. His #1 U.S. hit was Let's Dance in 1983, but has a long history of top ten hits including  “Space Oddity,” “Heroes,” “Changes,” “Under Pressure,” “China Girl,” “Modern Love,” “Rebel, Rebel,” “All the Young Dudes,” “Panic in Detroit,” “Fashion,” “Life on Mars,” “Suffragette City”

Bowie is survived by his wife of 23 years, fashion model Iman, their 15-year-old daughter Alexandria Zahra Jones, and his son, Moon director Duncan Jones, from his previous marriage.
