Diamonds May Not Be Anybody’s Best Friend…..

Since 1938, men have been told that if you’re going to ask for a girl’s hand in marriage, you better have a diamond to slip on that hand.

But this tradition is pretty stupid, and here are three good reasons why:

1. That diamond your guy bought you loses half of its value the second he walks out of the store with it.

2. The only reason we do this is because the De Beers diamond company told us to through an elaborate marketing campaign over 70 years ago.

3. Experts say that diamonds are only considered rare because De Beers restricts the supply in order to keep the price of diamonds high.

So if your man is planning to propose, give him the shock of his life and tell him to do it without the diamond. (Business Insider)
