Although the weather may not reflect it (this is North Dakota after all...), spring has sprung, and that means we finally get to shake off the winter blahs and spend time outdoors! What better way to prepare for the beautiful weather than coming down to the Dakota Garden Expo this Friday and Saturday at the Bismarck Civic Center Exhibit Hall?

This is the biggest gardening event in North Dakota and is not your typical garden show – this garden is growing full of FUN stuff for everyone! We will feature the best products, services, and resources available to avid and weekend gardeners alike.

The show is a two-day event. Doors are open from 3pm-8pm on Friday on 8am-4pm on Saturday. Admission is FREE and all are welcome!

The NDSU Extension Service will be giving away 1500 packs of seeds (3 packs to each of the first 500 people) as well as 100 Cherry Trees. There will be eco-friendly carrying bags given away to attendees while supplies last. The finest educators from NDSU and around the region will be on hand to provide free seminars on a wide array of topics, including:

  • Low maintenance lawn care
  • Growing organic vegetables
  • New varieties of trees for ND
  • And more!

Click here for a complete schedule (subject to minor changes).

Kids are also welcome at the Dakota Garden Expo! The Baker Family Medicine Kids' Zone will have activities for the little ones in your life. On Friday, they will have the opportunity to make their own biodegradable flower pots and plant something to take home. On Saturday, kids can dig for dollars on the Potting Soil Pit and take home real money!

Stop at the Ryan Auto Group display and register to win your share of $1000 in plants, pots, yard art, and other eco-friendly prizes to be given away during the show.
