According to the National Weather Service, Bismarck received roughly 5 inches of snow so far. The Street Department has been busy clearing the streets for safe travel in the Bismarck area.

Downtown Bismarck is still awaiting snow removal. The Street Department will be busy removing snow in the following areas early Friday (12/18) and Saturday (12/19) morning:

  • Friday, December 18 - 12:01 a.m.
North - South streets and alleys in the downtown signed areas.
  • Saturday, December 19 - 12:01 a.m.
East - West streets and alleys in the downtown signed areas.

Cars that remain parked in the 'No Parking' areas in Downtown Bismarck will be towed. Businesses that are located along these streets should have sidewalks cleared and clean before midnight on their designated day. Cars should stay off the streets until plowing is finished.

A person is not allowed to move, dump or deposit any snow or ice accumulated on private property to any public street, alley, or public right-of-way. According to the City Ordinance, the fine is up to $1,000.

Residents are asked to clean all snow and ice from their sidewalk. City Ordinance 10-03-04 Removal of Snow and Ice states that property owners must remove snow and ice from their personal sidewalk within 24 hours of snowfall.

Property owners should also clear snow around their mailbox. If you receive mail to a cluster box, it is the responsibility of the mail recipient to clear snow from around the box.
