Early Morning Fire Injures One in Valley City**UPDATE** One Man Dead, His Wife Was Injured
Authorities were called to a house fire about 3:30 Sunday morning in Valley City.

According to authorities the fire was at the 200 Block of 6th Street Northwest. The Barnes County Sheriff's office was on the scene along with the fire department. One person was injured although the extent of their injuries are not known at press time. The cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated.
The Red Cross was also on the scene of the early morning fire.
Authorities now say the man of the house is dead from the fire that started in the basement, the wife was able to get out of the burning house and get help from a neighbors house. It seems the husband went into the basement to check the fire and never made it out.
