While the economy is still sputtering, there are people out there spending a LOT of money on even basic foods.

According to CoedMagazine.com, here's a rundown of some of the world's most expensive foods and drinks:

Chocolate -- A truffle made by Fritz Knipschildt costs $250 ... or $2,600 per pound.

Hot Dog -- A hot dog from the restaurant Serendipity 3 in New York City will run you a staggering $69.

Cocktail -- The most expensive cocktail in the world is served in the most expensive hotel in the world, the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai. It will arrive on your table in an 18-karat gold tumbler for the unbelievable price of $7,500.

Pizza -- The restaurant Maze in London currently holds the Guinness World Record for most expensive pizza, with a price tag of $178. The record is under review, however, because Domenico Crolla recently auctioned off his Pizza Royale 007 for $4,200. Crolla actually sprinkles 24 karat gold flakes on the pie to top it off.
