Federal Departments Have Requested a Pause on Dakota Access Pipeline Construction

Even though a federal judge denied their injunction, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe still won on Friday, thanks to the U.S. government. 

It was announced on Friday, September 9th that U.S. District Judge James Boasberg denied the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's attempt to halt construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. The filed the lawsuit back in July.

However, a joint statement from the Department of Justice, the Department of the Army, and the Department of the Interior has given pipeline protesters some hope. The statement reads:

...important issues raised by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and other tribal nations and their members regarding the Dakota Access pipeline specifically, and pipeline-related decision-making generally, remain.

For now, DAP construction has been paused within 20 miles east or west of Lake Oahe. The Federal Departments plan to move quickly to make a timely decision as there are so many involved.
