If you're single, Valentine's Day is probably one of your least favorite days of the year. As a perpetually single male, I'm here to tell you that it shouldn't be.

Being single is, honestly, one of the greatest things in the world. You can literally do what you want, when you want, without someone questioning your every move. How could anything be better?

All right, I get it. Nobody wants to be single on Valentine's Day, but these things happen. So, here's a quick list of five different ways you can celebrate Valentine's Day in Bismarck-Mandan, if you don't have that special someone.

    Go to a Movie (Alone)

A lot of people make fun of me for going to the movies alone, but you know what I don't have to deal with? Someone asking questions throughout the movie, while their hand is firmly planted in my popcorn bucket.

If you go see a movie alone, you can enjoy your own giant bucket of popcorn, all the while not having to worry about somebody bombarding you with questions like, 'Who is that?' and 'What did I miss?' as they return from the bathroom.

Both 'Deadpool' and 'Zoolander 2' are out this Valentine's Day weekend, so you could even make it a double feature! Plus, Bismarck-Mandan has two different movie theaters you can utilize, meaning a lot of different showtimes to choose from!

    Go to Dinner (Alone)

This another thing I've learned to love as a single dude. Whenever I feel like going out to eat, I go. Sure, you might look a little pathetic sitting at the bar by yourself, sucking down tall beers and eating boneless wings, but, who really cares?

Being single means you don't have to have that inevitable argument of where you're going to go to eat. As a single person, you simply have to decide what you want and then go to whichever restaurant serves that item.

Not to mention paying for one person is a heck of a lot cheaper than paying for two, unless, of course, you have a few too many of those tall beers.

    Get Out of Town (Alone)

Want to avoid seeing all of those couples you know out celebrating Valentine's Day? Simply find the nearest highway, like I-94, and drive.

I'm originally from Michigan and try to drive home at least once a year. For those keeping score at home, that's a nearly 20-hour drive in a car alone and it's some of the most fun I've ever had on a road trip. I get to pick my own music, roll down the windows, and drive.

Yeh, I'm also alone with my thoughts for 20 straight hours, too, but I've grown accustomed to being alone with my thoughts. There are a lot worse things to be stuck alone with, believe me.

    Go Bowling (Alone)

I realize it might be tough to get a lane all to yourself on Valentine's Day, but what says 'I'm comfortable in my singledom' more than bowling alone?

Absolutely nothing. You may even make some new friends, because everyone knows that a person ballsy enough to bowl alone has got to be a good time.

Much like movie theaters, there are a lot of bowling options in Bismarck-Mandan.

    Netflix and Chill (Alone)

If you've been single for any length of time, you're probably already a master at this one.

Doing the ol' 'Netflix and chill' alone means you can watch whatever you want for however long you want. You want to binge watch the first few seasons of 'Orange is the New Black,' even though you've already seen them all? There's nobody there to stop you (or, judge you when you take a break for the 'chill' portion of the evening.)

Yes, I'm talking about masturbating. It's 2016. Get over it.
