EVENTS AROUND TOWN!!

••4th Annual “Miles For Smiles” 5K Walk & Run to benefit the Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation is ON SAT at 8am at Sertoma Park/Shelter 10.   Registration is on from 8-9am.  Runners start at 915, Walkers at 920, 1015—the awards.  JJ WILL BE THERE LIVE FROM 8-10AM!  Adults $25, Youth 10 and Under $10 and under 5 FREE!   Money raised goes to fight cancer!!

 

••Drive To Survive is ON FRI from 12noon-4pm at the Bismarck Cancer Center.  A chance to meet race car drivers, and see their cars up close and personal and enjoy a free will donation lunch of hot dogs, chips and soda.  Vivian The Pink Fire Truck will be there.  500 North 8th Street.  This is a great benefit to fight cancer!

 

••4th Annual Wild West Grillfest is on FRI & SAT in Mandan At Dykshoorn Park on Main Street.  Food, music and fun, gates open up at 11am.  Great grilled foods from local restaurants, wagon and pony rides, all day live entertainment, loads of vendors.  $5, and kids 12 and under in free! 

 

••Docs, Crocs & Frocks is on SATURDAY MORNING at 11am.  It’s an event to raise funds for the Welcome House---an outreach to homeless individuals and families and the working poor.   Doctors, Lawyers and Pastors will be competing.  And this is for a great cause!  

 

 

••Free Famlly Day—Saturday In The Park at Jaycee Centennial Park from 11am-2pm.  Hotdogs, chips, drinks, snow cones, popcorn, inflatables, lawn games and races.  Free for all families.   Jaycee Centennial Park is at West Century & 4th Street.

 

••Brat & Hot Dog Booth that supports Suicide Prevention will be serving up great food at Sam’s Club on SAT from 11-5pm!   This is all for a great charitable cause.

 

••Corn Feed & Old Settler’s Day At Buckstop Junction is on Sunday from 10am-4pm.   Old-fashioned music, Cowboy performers, clowns, railroad model railroad museum, woodcarvers, kids games, and great food served up.  Events are on from 930am-4pm.  It’s off the East Bismarck Expressway at East Main,  $6 for adults, students $3.

 

••Glow In The Dark 5k Run & Walk is on SAT at 9pm at Shelter 10 at Sertoma Park.  Presented by the BisMan Bombshellz and Bomberz Roller Derby Teams.

••4th Annual Carson Car Show is on SAT in Carson.  Classic Cars, pick-ups, antique tractors, and motorcycles.  Live music is on during this fun event.   It’s on from 8am-330pm(Mountain Time)  at Main Street and Railroad Avenue in Carson.  Enter your classic car for $10!

••BisMarket Farmers Market is open SAT from 9am-1pm and TUES from 4-7pm at Bismarck’s Sertoma Park, near Shelter 5.  Use the entrance by the Amusement Park.  Locally grown farm-fresh products, this is a great health choice.  FREE admission!!

••Mandan Farmers Market is open SAT starting at 8am at Heritage Park on Main Street.  Open til everything sells out.   Also open TUES at 10am, and SAT thru October 29th.

••Learn About Photography at a mini-class at Bob’s Photo at 1019 East Interstate Avenue SAT Morning 10-1130am.  FREE.

••Come & See The Animals!  The Dakota Zoo now has their summer hours is open daily from 10am-7pm.  $7 for adults, $4 for children.    New bear cubs and baby camels to see!

••Take a Guided Tour of Buckstop Junction. Any Saturday or Sunday at 1pm.  Vintage Shop is open from 12noon-4pm.  $5 for adults and $3 for students, off the East Bismarck Expressway.

••Capital Farmers Market is open Friday starting at 3pm, and is open all day Saturday in the K-Mart Parking Lot starting at 8am.

••Members of the Military and their immediately family in FREE at the Gateway of Science thru Labor Day.   It’s open FRI & SAT 10am-5pm and MON-THU 12N-7pm.  1810 Schaefer Street in Bismarck, near Bismarck State.

••Summer Band Shell Concerts continue MON THRU FRI at 730pm Mandan’s Dykshoorn Park on the west end of Main Street.  Dacotah Lions sell burgers and brats EVERY TUE from 530-730pm.   The concerts are FREE!

 “Kick-Ass 2”  (R)

 “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” (PG-13)

A remarkable story of White House butler Eugene Allen (played by Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker), who served eight U.S. presidents over the course of 30 years, and witnessed sweeping social change during his three decades of service at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, Cuba Gooding Jr and Terrence Howard star.

 

“Paranoia” (PG-13)

This movie centers on a likeable blue-collar worker who becomes a corporate spy for a scheming CEO.  Liam Hersworth, Gary Oldman, Harrison Ford and Amber Heard star.
