Exclusive Photos of the Historic Flooding in Minnesota
Record flooding and rain in Minnesota over the last few days caused flooding and road covered highways and roadways. Major roads are still closed due to flooding and some counties are still under a State of Emergency.
US 169, the North- South route to Minneapolis from the South remains closed between St. Peter and Mankato. Going North to MSP is open but the rivers and streams are swollen to capacity.
Highway ditches are full to capacity.
Traffic is moving in some areas of the state, but slow going in most areas.
Flood waters are up to the highway and under the bridges highways.
If you have travel plans from Bismarck to Minnesota, you should check with MnDot or dial 511 to double check road closures and the current state of emergencies. The Mississippi River is expected to be 6 feet over flood stage in St Paul, MN by Friday. Summer flooding is rare in the area.
