We all love our moms and there is no limit to the amount of money we'd spend on them. Right? Here's a look at the amount of money the average person spent on Mother's Day 2015.

You better be getting mom something. If you're getting flowers, you better hurry or you'll be stuck grabbing those bunches of flowers at the drug or grocery store. Bismarck florists will be busy making deliveries this week, starting Thursday through Saturday. The quick grab grocery stores flowers will work in a rush, but honestly, nothing special. Mom will appreciate them, but deep inside, she'll know it was a last minute gift. Don't be that guy!

For Bismarck retailers, Mother's Day is big business! On a national level, gifts range from a card to flowers to dinner or brunch. The average person spent $173 on Mother's Day last year and that was up $10 from the previous year, according to the National Retail Federation. This was the highest amount of money spent on Mother's Day in 12 years.

Mom's can expect the normal gifts including;

  • More than 80% of us will buy mom a card
  • More than half of those surveyed will purchase flowers
  • About a third of us will purchase jewelry

Last year, jewelry reached an all time high in spending, reaching $4.3 billion, that's an increase of $700 million from 2014. Other popular items last year included electronics, personal products (spa treatments) and household items and kitchen ware.

The absolute worst thing you can do is to do nothing!
