According to new research, love actually can occur at first sight ... and it happens within a fifth of a second.

Lead researcher Dr. Stephanie Ortigue, a professor at Syracuse University, explains that romantic feelings initiate in the brain, which reacts as though on cocaine. The brain releases chemicals that produce feelings of euphoria in the brain's cognitive centers -- and the whole process occurs in less than a second.
