The man who committed a horrible crime was sentenced to a year in jail Monday (8/17) in Minnesota.

Anthony Sather, 24, of Princeton, pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges after police said he tortured and then fatally shooting his girlfriend’s dog, while videotaping his act . He was charged in January when his girl friend found several videos on a computer that appeared to show him beating the her dog, "Draco".

Sather also had drug charges which he pleaded guilty to in June. He was sentenced to one year in jail Monday with credit for time already served. He is also placed on 4 years probation.

There were about 20 supporters for Draco outside the courthouse on Monday for the sentencing.

The beating death of Draco caused a huge  public outcry for justice and had a Facebook page with over 17,000 fans.
