A 21-year-old Mandan man was taken to jail Saturday (Oct. 10) after violently attacking his 22-year-old girlfriend and threatening her life.

The couple was driving home early that morning when they got into an argument. After exiting the vehicle, the accused hit the victim over the head.

The girlfriend tried to break free to go for help, but the boyfriend kicked her, held her to the ground by standing on her head, then tried strangling her.

The altercation culminated in the man pulling a knife and holding it to her neck.

The victim was finally able to run to a neighbor for help, and authorities were called. The man was arrested for terrorizing, and the woman was taken to the hospital for examination. Her current condition has not been released.
