Minnesota Vikings Great Jared Allen Announces Retirement [VIDEO]

Former Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen announced his retirement after 12 seasons in the NFL earlier today (2/18) in the most Jared Allen-way possible.

Allen made the announcement via Twitter. You can see him 'ride off into the sunset' below:

Allen spent six seasons in Minnesota, where he cemented his status as one of the game's most feared pass rushers.

Allen finishes his NFL career with 136 sacks and 643 total tackles. He also had 31 forced fumbles and six interceptions during his career, according to Wikipedia.

The defensive end holds the Minnesota Vikings franchise records for most sacks in a season (22 in 2011), most consecutive games with a sack (11 in 2010-11), and most safeties in a season (2 in 2008).

Allen's record for most consecutive games with a sack is also an NFL record, according to Wikipedia.

Allen was drafted out of Idaho State in 2004 by the Kansas City Chiefs. He also spent the final two years of his NFL career with the Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers.

Allen's final game in the NFL was suiting up for the NFC Champion Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.
