ND Assault Suspect Adds Rape to His Growing List of Charges

Seventeen-year-old Abdirahman Pashir Sahel, in custody facing charges of assault, attempted kidnapping, robbery and terrorizing at West Acres Mall in Fargo, can now add gross sexual imposition and another count of terrorizing to his list of potential convictions.

And the teenager will answer to every last one of these charges as an adult, meaning the potential punishment will be more severe, and any convictions will remain on his record forever.

Assuming the allegations are true, Sahel began his life of serious crime at a very young age. He was just 15 when he allegedly set upon a 58-year-old female J.C. Penny employee in a West Acres parking lot as she left work. Sahel was arrested as a result in September 2014 and sent to jail to await trial -- as an adult.

It was only while due process was taking place -- when police collected DNA from Sahel while investigating the West Acres case -- that the teen was discovered to be the same young male who had allegedly sexually assaulted two young women at a Holiday Inn the year before, at the tender age of 14.

Now, that "John Doe" has been given the name Abdirahman Pashir Sahel, and he will face those charges as he will face the more recent: as an adult.

Sahel could be looking at 30+ years in prison if convicted on all charges. Trial is set to begin on March 29 of this year.
