Bismarck's own Danielle Ta'Sheena Finn, a member of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe, will compete in the Miss Indian World Pageant in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on April 24-26. The pageant will be part of the 31st Annual Gathering of Nations, the biggest Native American powwow in the world.

The pageant will begin with the talent portion of the competition on Thursday, April 24, and the winner will receive her crown on Saturday the 26th at 7:30 pm.

Each of the 23 hopefuls will be assessed on her knowledge of tribal culture, dancing and public speaking abilities and overall personality, with the grand prize being the honor of serving for a year as a cultural goodwill ambassador for all Native and Indigenous people.

If you plan to be in the Albuquerque area around that time and would like to attend the event, tickets are $14 each and will be available at the door the day of, or they can be purchased online.
