According to the North Dakota Department of Transportation, some new improvements to I-94 are scheduled for the 2019 construction season.

The improvements on I-94 are set from the North Dakota Highway 25 Interchange to the Grant Marsh Bridge and also West Bismarck Expressway from the I-94 Interchange to the South Washington Street intersection.

With the planned improvements, the objective is to extend the life of the existing pavement in particular areas. The process will call for concrete pavement repair, hot mix asphalt overlay, bridge deck overlays and replacements, and installing a permanent traffic signal system at the Sunset Drive Interchange.

Once construction begins, signs will continuously give motorists updates on delays. Traffic on I-94 will continue to move through, but there may be temporary closures of ramps and loop ramps during the process. High traffic areas may use nighttime paving to help limit more delays during the day.

The project is expected to cost an estimated $11 million.
