Where could it be?  Smart Asset recently published the Best College Towns in America list and there is a college town in North Dakota that made the top ten list.

The team looked at 5 factors to determine this list for 2015-

  1. Discretionary Income (DI) – average yearly income for city minus average yearly 2 bedroom rent for that city
  2. Number of arts, entertainment and recreation establishments per 100,000 people (A&L)
  3. Unemployment Rate (UE)
  4. Number of Violent Crimes per 100,000 people (VC)
  5. Number of Property Crimes per 100,000 people (PC)

Making the list in 2014 at #2 was Fargo. But in 2015, Grand Forks made the list at #8, Fargo was no where to be seen in the top 10 this year. According to the survey-

Grand Forks is home to the University of North Dakota. It has the fourth lowest unemployment rate of any college town in America at 3%. College hockey fans will be especially keen on Grand Forks. Along with rating as one of America’s best college towns to live in.

Grand Forks is also the top hockey college town to live in!

Go UND!
