A recently released report from BackgroundChecks.org shows that North Dakota has one of the highest DUI arrest rates in the entire country.

In fact, North Dakota had the second most DUI arrests per 100,000 residents behind only South Dakota.

The BackgroundChecks.org report shows that North Dakota has 838 DUI arrests per 100,000 people. South Dakota has 844.

North Dakota was also ranked the second worst state overall for DUI arrests. Other factors besides DUI arrests per 100,000 people that were taken into consideration include the DUI death rate, the amount of people who report they drank too much prior to driving, and other factors.

Wyoming was ranked the worst state for DUI arrests.

One other unfortunate tid bit about these figures, and not mentioned in the BackgroundChecks.org report is the fact that the punishment for high risk drivers in North Dakota, including drunk drivers, is not nearly as severe as it should be.
