While drunk driving deaths have dropped significantly in the past ten years, the issue of drunk driving is still a huge problem across the country.

According to a report from the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility, North Dakota has the highest rate of drunk driving deaths in the country, with 10.3 per every 100,000 people.

The report also states that drunk driving deaths in North Dakota rose over 64% from 2002 to 2012, by far the most in the country.

North Dakota also had the largest number of underaged binge drinkers in the country.

One of the ways North Dakota has attempted to curb this behavior is by passing a bill last year that doubled the amount of jail time for repeat drunk driving offenders.
