North Dakota's own Weston Hecker, along with an unnamed partner, has developed software with the potential for shutting out personal-information-seeking hackers.

When interviewed by KX News, Hecker expresses a sentiment undoubtedly echoed by many:

It was kind of something I got tired of hearing in the news. You know, this got breached this week and I think 'do I shop there?'

Credit card theft performed by hacking information on the internet is, as Hecker tells us, "one of the largest areas of theft in the world."

So how to stop it? Overwhelm the hackers with information, says Hecker:

You can actually generate fake credit card numbers into real batches of credit card numbers.  So when people steal credit card numbers, they're actually getting an invalid batch.

This makes finding the valid info like finding a needle in a haystack.

Hecker and his partner plan to offer the project to the public for free starting in two weeks.
