Not many women from the city could ever consider themselves a farm mom. However Katie Heger made the smooth transition.

Raised just outside Minneapolis, Heger moved to Underwood, ND after she married her husband Steven. Each year, the 'American Agri-Women' select five individuals from different regions of the United States who represent the 'ideal' woman who balances both home and farm life.

Heger is this year's Northwest region nominee. Heger used to teach at an elementary school but over the last several years has worked as a full-time mother while helping to maintain the family's 8,000 acre farm. The Heger's are parents to five children aged 4 to 14.
