More than two years after Paul McCartney revealed that he was working on music for 'Destiny,' a highly anticipated new video game from Bungie, the developers of the hit 'Halo' series, you can finally wrap your ears around the results.

As we previously reported, plans are afoot to release the new song, 'Hope for the Future,' as a single. Those plans haven't come to fruition yet, but thanks to an enterprising gamer who captured video of the game's closing credits, fans don't have to wait to hear the track. Check it out above.

Like any good pop song written for the end of an epic adventure, 'Hope for the Future' is stuffed to the gills with dramatic sweep, incorporating orchestral elements (some of which are presumably part of the 'Destiny' score, to which McCartney also contributed) and a soaring, anthemic melody. Calling the former Beatle's involvement "amazing," Bungie Community Manager Eric Osbourne told Vulture that contrary to popular conjecture, the company didn't have to fork over a ton of money to get him on board.

"There was no check involved, big or otherwise," insisted Osbourne. "He’s in it for the creativity. He got a wonderful opportunity to reach an audience that wouldn’t typically be immersed in Paul McCartney."

Some members of the gaming community have already started snarking about 'Hope for the Future,' pointing to lyrics like "We will build bridges / Up to the sky / Heavenly light surrounding you and I" and "Some hope for the future / Some wait for the call / To say that our destiny / Will be the best of all" as arguments against its inclusion in one of the bigger video game releases of the year. Those people might have a point, but on the list of McCartney soundtrack songs, this probably still has to rank above 'Spies Like Us.'
