The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for nine counties which includes Burleigh and Morton Counties.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch will go until 11 p.m. CST tonight. Severe weather threats include damaging winds and a secondary threat of damaging hail.

The possible slow-moving storms may produce heavy rains. The nine counties in North Dakota which are included in the severe weather alert are:

  • Adams
  • Bowman
  • Burleigh
  • Emmons
  • Grant
  • Hettinger
  • Morton
  • Sioux
  • Stark

According to the National Weather Service in Bismarck, thunderstorms have been forecasted through the weekend but the severe weather threat will be low.
