It was about two years ago we first learned Bryan Fuller was adding Amazing Stories to his plate of Star Trek and American Gods, and the project is finally bearing fruit. Literal fruit! Apple has landed a deal with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment for the new series as part of an overall pact with the filmmaker.

Per The Hollywood Reporter and Wall Street Journal, Apple is said to have inked a deal for ten episodes of the new series (at maybe $5 million budgeted per episode), rebooting the 1985 Spielberg-produced anthology. The drama was originally set up at NBC, while reports placed Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, Emily Gordon and Jane Goldman as Fuller’s collaborators.

Said NBC of the new Amazing Stories:

It’s wonderful to be reunited with our colleagues Zack [Van Amburg] and Jamie [Erlicht] in their new capacity at Apple. We love being at the forefront of Apple’s investment in scripted programming, and can’t think of a better property than Spielberg’s beloved Amazing Stories franchise with the genius of Bryan Fuller at the helm and more exciting creative partnerships to come.

The original series was nominated for twelve Emmys, and lacks any kind of official premiere window (ditto for most of Apple’s TV projects), so stay tuned for the latest on Amazing Stories.
