The number of fatal crashes at this year's Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in the Black Hills of South Dakota has risen to eight.

Rally crowds are up by at least 7% according to the South Dakota Transportation Department, it has been a fairly quiet and safe rally at and around Sturgis according to officials.

Investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) have determined that the fire that destroyed the Full Throttle Saloon was an accident.

Michael Ballard, owner of The Full Throttle Saloon, released a statement regarding the Sept. 7 fire that destroyed the legendary Sturgis, South Dakota bar.

The legendary landmark and drunk spot for many rally goers burned to the ground over night Monday in Sturgis, SD.

The death toll at Sturgis set a record by one over the weekend. Officials began keeping track from the 75th Sturgis Rally statistics Tuesday, July 28  up to 6 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8.
