The most common job in the United States in a truck driver. If you're thinking about a career for the future, a truck driver would be the profession according to National Public Radio. (NPR)

The broadcast group released the information which shows the most common jobs in every state, based on an analysis of U.S. Census data.

Driving a truck is currently the most common employment in 29 of the 50 states.

The survey published also shows a map of the country which indicates comparisons with previous Census data gathered since 1978.

In North Dakota, the primary job since 1978 has been farming. Farming remains a strong career only in the Dakotas.

The study did find that states that were once traditionally strong in farming careers such as Iowa and Kansas are no longer dominated by independent farmers. Just a clear sign how the industry is changing from small, working family farms to larger industry farms owned by corporations.
