Once again, we look to weather.com who broke down the most extreme rainfall during a 24 hour period in each state.

Texas once received 42 inches of rain in 24 hours.

In North Dakota, our highest rainfall is not nearly as extreme. The record for the most rainfall in North Dakota is 8.1 inches. According to NOAA, this event occurred on June 29, 1975 in Litchville.

The period between late June and early July caused a lot of flooding across Eastern North Dakota and Northwest Minnesota in 1975. You can read the United States Geological Survey report on the floods here.
