The unofficial kick-off to summer is finally here---Memorial Day weekend, and temps in the 70's and 80's---compared what we were experiencing just a few shorts weeks ago--it's a real touch of heaven here in the Peace Garden State.   Looks like if you'll be traveling this holiday weekend you're not alone.   You may be surrounded by over 36 million others with the same idea.

North Dakota AAA forecasts nationally 36.1 million people to travel more than 50 miles away from home – up around 2 percent from last year.  This is the second-highest number of travelers since 2000.   So don't be surprised to be seeing a lot of out of state plates here in the Bismarck-Mandan area driving through on I-94.  Or perhaps on  your way to the lake, to Fargo, the Medora or wherever your final destination may be this weekend.    AAA North Dakota says the increase in travel is due to the economy recovering and here in North Dakota it's due to our reaction to the really long very cold winter we went through.

Drive safe and happy traveling!!!
