The Morton County Sheriff made two arrests on Wednesday morning following the discovery of two Dakota Access Pipeline Protesters on top of construction equipment.

Deputies received a radio call just before 7:30am notifying them of individuals climbing on top of the construction equipment on Highway 6 south of St. Anthony.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found about 50 protesters and 40 vehicles at the construction site.

Two men were bound to construction equipment. The Mandan Rural Fire Department was called to the scene to help extract the protesters from the construction equipment.

As of 11am, two arrests had been made. A 47 year old St. Louis woman was arrested for trespassing as well as a 25 year old man from Cannon Ball. At the time, law enforcement was still trying to extract one individual from the construction equipment.

UPDATE 8PM: The Duluth News Tribune reports that there was a total of eight individuals arrested today.
