UND says ‘Goodbye’ to Baseball and Golf Programs
Due to budget state cuts, UND announced that starting next season, the University will not have a baseball or golf program.
The announcement came today (4/12/16) via email from UND Athletic Director Brian Faison. This was announced after the UND Men's Hockey Team took home the national championship trophy.
Due to falling oil prices in the state, the university needs to cut approximately $12.6 million from its budget. Baseball has been in the program continuously since 1965, the golf program has been swinging every year since 2008.
This could mean the loss of seven student athletes, one coach in the golfing program, and even more in the baseball program.
