Upstate NY Limo Crash Kills Twenty

A limousine crash at a nortoriously dangerous intersection in upstate New York has left twenty people dead.

The Albany, NY Times Union reports the Saturday crash is the nation's deadliest "transportation tragedy" since the February 12, 2009 crash of Colgan Air Flight 3407 in Buffalo, in which 49 people died.

New York State Police confirmed in a press conference that all eighteen people in the limo died, as well as two people standing in a parking lot.

State troopers say the limo was driving south on Route 30 in Schoharie County and went through a stop sign and an intersection, and through the parking lot of the Apple Barrel Country Store Saturday afternoon.

The crash took place at the intersection of Route 30 and Route 30A. The limo then crashed into an embankment.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo put out a statement Sunday afternoon commending first responders and expressing sympathy to friends and families of the victims.
