With the busiest travel weekend ahead, the US State Department has issued a global travel alert, citing "increased terrorist threats."

With attacks in France, Mali, Nigeria, Denmark, and Turkey over the last year from terror groups like ISIS (also known as ISIL, or Islamic State), Boko Haram, al-Queda and other terrorist groups.

In a release posted to their website today, The State Department cites:

Current information suggests that ISIL (aka Da’esh), al-Qa’ida, Boko Haram, and other terrorist groups continue to plan terrorist attacks in multiple regions.

If you plan on traveling internationally this coming week, the State Department suggests that US Citizens "should exercise vigilance when in public places or using transportation.  Be aware of immediate surroundings and avoid large crowds or crowed places."
