On Saturday, October 1st, the University of North Dakota men's hockey team raised their eighth national championship banner into the rafters of the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks.

According to UNDSports.com, an exhibition game record 11,706 fans came out to see the banner raised. They also got to watch UND defeat the University of Manitoba 5-1 in the process.

Players and coaches from all seven of the previous national championship teams were on-hand for the banner raising ceremony, which you can see a portion of in the video above.

The Fighting Hawks will return to the ice Friday, October 7th, to take on Canisius at the Ralph Engelstad Arena. The puck drops at 7:37 p.m. The two teams will matchup the following night, as well, with the puck dropping at 7:07 p.m.
