Wentz Has Solid Outing in Eagles Preseason Win

For the second straight week, Carson Wentz had a successful preseason showing as the Philadelphia Eagles earned their first preseason victory.

The Eagles had to come from behind as they scored the go-ahead touchdown with three minutes remaining in the 4th quarter on their way to a 20-16 preseason victory over the Buffalo Bills.

Carson Wentz finished 6 of 9 for 56 yards and his first two connections with new wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, who was playing for the first time this preseason. Jeffery finished with 2 catches for 23 yards. Wentz played the entire first quarter before giving way to backup Matt McGloin.

Making the biggest impression for the Eagles may have been newly acquired cornerback Ronald Darby. He intercepted a pass and returned it 48 yards, while also gathering 2 pass deflections. Darby was traded from the Bills earlier in the week for wide receiver Jordan Matthews, who was out with an injury for Buffalo.

Bills starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor had a rough outing as he finished 8 of 18, passing for 53 yards and 2 interceptions.

Corey Clement would score the Eagles first touchdown on a 6-yard run with less than two minutes to go in the first half as Philadelphia took a 13-6 lead into halftime. Byron Marshall ran in the winning score for the Eagles from 1-yard out.

The Eagles (1-1 in preseason) will host the Miami Dolphins next Thursday at 6 p.m.
