Wentz Looks Sharp in First Preseason Game as Eagles Fall to Packers

at Lambeau Field on August 10, 2017 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Carson Wentz only needed one offensive series to showcase what his fans are expecting to see from him and the Eagles during the regular season.

On the first possession of the Philadelphia Eagles first preseason game, albeit at Lambeau Field against the Green Bay Packers, Wentz led a touchdown scoring drive of 60 yards on 10 plays. Wentz was 4 of 4 passing for 56 yards, which including a conversion on 4th and 7, and a 38-yard touchdown pass to Mack Hollins on a 3rd and 12.

At the time, it gave the Eagles a 6-0 lead before they failed on the two-point conversion attempt. Wentz would come out of the game after the first possession as the second-string offense would play the majority of the game.

The Packers would respond in the 2nd quarter on special teams when Trevor Davis returned a punt 68 yards for a touchdown. Green Bay would go up 7-6 and maintain the lead for good as they would go on to win 24-9.

Aaron Rodgers did not play in the Packers first preseason game as expected. Green Bay started second-string quarterback Brett Hundley, who went 8 of 15 for 90 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown to Jeff Janis, and an interception.

Eagles backup Matt McGloin was 28 for 42 passing for 205 yards and an interception. Newly acquired standout wide receiver Alshon Jeffery did not play.

The Eagles will host the Buffalo Bills next Thursday, August 17th. Green Bay will travel to Washington for their second preseason game on Saturday, August 19th.
