If you've traveled the country for any period of time, you've probably noticed that a lot of cities in a lot of different states have the exact same street names. North Dakota is no different.

The folks over at the Washington Post combed over maps to come up with a list of the most popular street names in the country, as well as in every state.

Park is the most popular street name in the country, with 9,640 streets baring that name. However, in the state of North Dakota, Park isn't even in the top ten.

Here are the top ten street names throughout the state of North Dakota, according to the Washington Post:

  1. 2nd/Second - 214
  2. 1st/First - 210
  3. 3rd/Third - 199
  4. 4th/Fourth - 197
  5. 6th/Sixth - 184
  6. 5th/Fifth - 173
  7. 7th/Seventh - 146
  8. Main - 131
  9. Eighth - 122
  10. Tenth - 104

How exactly do you have more 2nd/Second streets than 1st/First streets? Don't you need a 1st/First to have a 2nd/Second? I digress.

So, how do the top ten street names in North Dakota stack up against the top street names across the country?:

  1. Park - 9,460
  2. 2nd/Second - 8,232
  3. Oak - 8,191
  4. 1st/First - 8,151
  5. 3rd/Third - 7,748
  6. Maple - 7,608
  7. Pine - 7,013
  8. 4th/Fourth - 6,914
  9. Cedar - 6,805
  10. Main 6,472

While there is a lot of similarities in the two lists, I think we can all agree that the state of North Dakota needs to start getting a little more creative with their street names. At the very least, we need to add a few Park St.'s here and there.
